Job summary

Mesa Energy Systems, Inc. in San Luis Obispo is seeking an entry/intermediate CAD Drafting professional to support mechanical engineers with developing detailed schematics for HVAC systems, based on established guidelines and site surveys.

The role requires either a BS in Mechanical Engineering or 2 years of CAD Drafting experience with AutoCAD/REVIT training, strong communication, and a willingness to learn new software as we maintain CAD standards and a robust submittal package process.

Qualifications

BS in Mechanical Engineering or 2 years CAD Drafting experience with AutoCAD/REVIT training/certification enrollment or completion.
Must make autonomous decisions based on experience and project requirements.
Develop a working knowledge of Permitting submittal requirements in the Mechanical field.
Computer-savvy, willing and able to understand and learn new software programs; developing proficiency of AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and related software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Growing awareness of HVAC systems and components (Hot Water, Chilled Water, Condensing Water, Chillers, Fans, Heat Pumps).

Responsibilities

Perform various tasks assigned by Mechanical Engineers, Senior Engineers, and the Engineering Manager/Director.
Assist in producing detailed schematics for HVAC systems based on instructions and guidelines.
Assist Mechanical Engineers by participating in job site surveys to gather as-built technical information.
Draft and develop layouts for mechanical systems based on direction from Mechanical Engineers.
Convert field surveys into usable formats for plan and project development; use AutoCAD to develop plans.
Participate in the project improvement process by maintaining CAD Detail Library and CAD Standards.
Other duties may include copying/printing/scanning, assembly of equipment submittal packages, assistance in preparing work scope, and other tasks as assigned.

Geographic Disclosure

Compensation Range: $29 - $34 per hour
