Job description

Position Summary:

The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing multiple projects, collaborating with internal and external design disciplines to develop engineering solutions for PEC’s clients. This role involves preparing design deliverables for various projects while maintaining PEC’s standards of excellence. The position requires proficiency in BIM/CAD software, hand calculations, and computer-based calculations.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform engineering design and coordinate with other design staff to produce construction documents and specifications in compliance with building codes, including construction administration and report/study development.
2. Assist during construction administration, including reviewing submittals, conducting site investigations, and responding to RFIs under the guidance of the Project Engineer.
3. Conduct design and takeoff calculations manually and using software tools.
4. Manage multiple projects and tasks, ensuring timely completion according to PEC standards.
5. Organize project information and files following corporate standards and workflows.
6. Communicate effectively and coordinate with the Design Team to accomplish design tasks across multiple projects.
7. Additional projects and responsibilities may be assigned at the company's discretion.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Experience with industry-standard CAD and modeling software.
• Knowledge of codes, regulations, plan interpretation, and discipline-specific design.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an ABET-accredited university is required.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
