Job summary

Pratt Industries is seeking a Design Manager in Kansas City to lead customer design projects and oversee production coordination in a corrugated facility.

You will guide customer interactions, manage production schedules, ensure on-time deliveries, and drive cost-efficient design decisions while mentoring staff.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and hands-on supervision in a fast-paced plant environment with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Good communicator with customers and sales staff.
• Experience in a production/manufacturing facility, especially in the corrugated industry.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead and communicate at a high level to Customer Support Staff, Production employees, Management and Customers.
• Maintain excellent working conditions, a safe work environment, and high morale within the plant.
• Review and ensure that all plant goals regarding in-bounds, out-bounds, on-time deliveries, backlog, and other product quality and performance issues are being met.
• Attend scheduling meetings.
• Keep Plant Manager and Sales Manager informed regarding problems or situations that may affect the overall production operation and sales of the plant.
• Must display emotional control in time sensitive situations and be able to multi-task.
• Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• Experienced in Microsoft Office is required.
• Formulate and communicate ideas for new accounts or products, analyzing customer needs and production feasibility.
• Accompany Sales Representatives on occasion to present new products or designs to customers or prospects.
• Review accounts and make recommendations for update on style, board weight, new developments, etc.
• Analyze changes in the industry and research innovations in equipment that can be adapted to company operations.
• Responsible for performance of subordinates, including meeting deadlines and coordinating priority levels of workload.
• Complies with company policies and procedures.
• Additional duties as assigned by management.
