Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an experienced Design Build Transportation Design Manager to lead the design delivery of major highway and bridge projects across the U.S. This leadership role focuses on building strong teams, driving innovation, and delivering outstanding results for clients in a fast-paced, alternative delivery environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• PE license is required.
• 15+ years of experience managing complex multidisciplinary transportation design projects.
• Experience as Design Manager on major Design-Build and/or P3/PPP transportation projects.
• Experience delivering highway and bridge projects from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design delivery of large transportation projects, including Design-Build and P3/PPP pursuits.
• Serve as the primary design leader with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Direct multidisciplinary design teams across offices to ensure collaboration and execution.
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk per contract obligations.
• Collaborate with controls and scheduling to monitor earned value and address challenges.
• Ensure high standards of technical quality and design coordination.
• Develop execution strategies, staffing plans, and resource allocations.
• Mentor project engineers and discipline leads for project success.
• Drive communication among design, construction, and project management teams.
• Review schedules, financial performance, and milestones across disciplines.
• Identify scope changes and assess impacts on delivery and budget.
• Support business development, client engagement, and proposal presentations.
• Represent Jacobs at client meetings and industry events.
• Collaborate across transportation leaders to grow the national Design-Build practice.
