Job summary

DOCS Dermatology Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical and procedural patient care across our dermatology practices. This role assists physicians, manages patient intake, and supports EHR documentation in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have prior medical office experience, familiarity with HIPAA, and knowledge of ICD-10/CPT coding. Travel within Docs offices may be required. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience in a medical office.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and patient privacy.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred.
• Experience with EMR systems such as ModMed EMA.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient information by interviewing patients and confirming visit purpose.
• Enter medical history into the EHR and update records.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for visits.
• Ask relevant medical questions and document data in the EHR.
• Prepare patients for exams with drapes and supplies.
• Take photographs as needed for charts and records.
• Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
• Phone in prescriptions to pharmacies as ordered.
• Schedule medical procedures and follow-ups.
• Instruct patients on proper medication usage.
• Change dressings, remove sutures, and perform in-office phlebotomy.
• Collect, log and package lab specimens for transport.
• Sterilize medical instruments and maintain clean rooms.
• Inventory stock and place orders to keep supplies ready.
• Complete phone triage and patient communication.
• Notify patients of pathology and lab results.
• Scribe office visits for charting purposes.
• Administer injections and topical medications as ordered.
• Document nurse visits including UVB, Excimer, Patch Testing, Biologic injections.
• Maintain a safe, compliant work environment per procedures.
