Job summary

DOCS Dermatology Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical care and patient flow across our dermatology practices. The role involves patient intake, data entry into the EHR, assisting physicians during exams, and coordinating procedures and lab work.

The position requires a high school diploma and prior medical office experience; travel may be required in some offices. A robust benefits package accompanies this role, including insurance and retirement options.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent certificate or degree is required.
• Prior experience in a medical office is preferred.
• Ability to learn center tasks and assist management and physicians.
• Self-motivated to achieve high patient care and customer service standards.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding is preferred.
• Familiarity with HIPAA law is required.
• Some offices may require travel within the Docs Dermatology Group network.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history and confirming visit purpose.
• Enter medical history and visit information into EHR.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for the Physician.
• Ask pertinent medical questions and enter data into the EHR.
• Prepare patients for exams and provide necessary materials.
• Take photographs and assist physicians during examinations.
• Phone in prescriptions to pharmacies and schedule procedures.
• Instruct patients on medication usage and manage wound dressings.
• Collect, log and package lab specimens for transport and sterilize instruments.
• Maintain supplies by inventorying stock and placing orders.
• Complete phone triage and communicate pathology/lab results to patients.
• Scribe office visits and assist with various procedures including injections.
