Job summary

ENERCON Services, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Planning Engineer to lead and support DER impact studies within our electric utility distribution planning team.

You will perform detailed hosting capacity assessments, voltage and protection coordination analyses, and build distribution models. Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and regulatory stakeholders, mentoring junior engineers and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Typically requires 6 years of experience in electric utility distribution planning, with a focus on DER integration
• Strong understanding of distribution system operations, protection, and planning principles
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., WindMil, CYME, Synergi)
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and interconnection standards (IEEE 1547, FERC, NERC)
• Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
• Experience with hosting capacity analysis and locational value assessments preferred
• Knowledge of DERMS, AMI, and ADMS systems preferred
• Experience working with utilities, developers, and regulatory agencies preferred
