Job summary

Enercon Services, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Planning Engineer to lead and support DER impact studies for electric utility distribution planning.

The role offers locations at any ENERCON office or remote within the US, combining field project work with analytical modeling to ensure safe, reliable DER integration. You will perform hosting capacity analyses, voltage and thermal assessments, and simulations using WindMil, CYME, and Synergi; mentor junior engineers; prepare reports for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Typically requires 6 years of experience in electric utility distribution planning, with a focus on DER integration.
• Strong understanding of distribution system operations, protection, and planning principles.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (WindMil, CYME, Synergi).
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and interconnection standards (IEEE 1547, FERC, NERC).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
• PE license preferred.
• Experience with hosting capacity analysis and locational value assessments preferred.
• Knowledge of DERMS, AMI, and ADMS systems preferred.
• Experience working with utilities, developers, and regulatory agencies preferred.

Responsibilities

• DER Analysis & Impact Studies: assess hosting capacity, voltage, thermal loading, and protection coordination.
• Modeling & Simulation: steady-state and dynamic studies using WindMil, CYME, and Synergi.
• Communication & Documentation: prepare reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.
• Mentorship & Process Improvement: mentor junior engineers and improve planning methods.
