Job summary

HealthPartners is seeking a Deputy General Counsel - Legal, Technology & Strategic Affairs to guide legal strategy, risk management, and enterprise governance across the health system. Qualifications

• J.D. is required with strong academic credentials.
• Active license to practice law; Minnesota court admission within six months.
• 10+ years of legal experience including healthcare, insurance, corporate transactions, regulatory compliance.
• 5+ years in leadership or management roles in-house.
• Experience with AI governance and digital transformation in regulated settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-depth legal analysis and risk-based counsel in multiple areas within the assigned practice area.
• Develop and implement legal strategies to address complex business challenges.
• Advise organizational leaders on legal, regulatory, operational, and strategic matters affecting HealthPartners.
• Support system-wide strategic initiatives for the Chief Legal Officer and cross-functional teams.
• Lead or support significant corporate transactions and enterprise initiatives.
• Support legal operations initiatives to improve efficiency and governance.
• Draft, negotiate, and oversee sophisticated contracts and vendor relations.
• Collaborate on enterprise risk management and governance frameworks.
• Provide guidance on AI, data governance, privacy, and cybersecurity initiatives.
• Lead interdisciplinary teams and manage outside counsel as needed.

Education

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Active license to practice law and admission to Minnesota courts within six months of hire

Ten (10) years of progressively responsible legal experience

Five (5) years leading or managing others in-house

Strategic understanding of AI and digital transformation technologies
