Job summary

The Maryland Department of Human Services is seeking a Deputy Director to lead the Office of Emergency Operations. You will direct statewide emergency preparation, response and recovery, shaping plans and policies, and supervising nine staff while coordinating with local and federal partners.

You'll oversee COOP, hazard planning, training, and resource coordination for mass care and shelter operations, ensuring readiness during disasters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five years of supervisory experience in disaster response or emergency environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and administrate emergency plans for the DHS Central office and local departments.
• Coordinate Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) and ensure readiness of relocation sites and equipment.
• Direct and manage State Administrative Plan for Individual Assistance in coordination with partners.
