Job summary

Maryland Department of Human Services is seeking a Deputy Director of the Office of Emergency Operations to lead statewide disaster response, recovery, and continuity planning. You will oversee 9 staff plus extra emergency personnel and coordinate with FEMA and other partners.

The role ensures shelter readiness and emergency resource distribution across DHS Central and 24 local departments, reporting to the agency leadership and guiding policy.

Qualifications

• Five years supervisory experience in disaster response, emergency health services, law enforcement, firefighting, or similar emergency response environments
• Three years of experience creating emergency response plans, SOPs, and emergency policies
• Three years of experience managing incident reporting or coordinating emergency operations with local, state, or federal partners

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates emergency operations statewide for the Maryland Department of Human Services
• Oversees 9 permanent staff and additional emergency personnel; manages continuity of operations planning
• Coordinates with federal and state agencies including FEMA and ensures readiness of shelters and emergency resources across DHS Central and 24 local departments
