Job summary

City of New York Department of Homeless Services seeks an Administrative Director of Social Services M-III to oversee shelter operations, ensure compliance, and manage program delivery across multiple facilities.

The role includes incident response, site visits, program evaluation, and collaboration with staff, providers, and Community Boards to improve services for New Yorkers experiencing homelessness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with four years of progressively responsible experience in a large governmental agency or equivalent.
• Graduate education or a license may substitute for up to three years of experience in the area of social services.
• A valid New York State LCSW or LMSW may substitute for three years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer directly operated and contracted facilities to ensure safe, well-maintained environments.
• Ensure compliance with mandates, agency standards and shelter-related regulations.
• Respond to critical incidents affecting clients’ health and safety; conduct routine site visits.
