Job summary

The NYC Department of Social Services seeks a Deputy Director of Security to lead Police Operations and contracted security across HRA and DHS locations. You will supervise Zone Inspectors, Captains, Lieutenants, and on-site Sergeants to ensure safety for staff and clients.

Responsibilities include policy development, on-site inspections, risk assessments, incident reporting, staffing, and coordinating with the NYPD. NYC residency is required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day management of Police Operations and the contracted security services in the field, including direct supervision of Zone Inspectors, Captains and Lieutenants.
• Periodically conduct on-site inspections and establish policies and procedures as needed.
• Direct security investigations and assess security risks with timely reporting to SID.
• Ensure proper scheduling and deployment of staff for adequate post coverage and resources.
• Manage the 24-hour security desk and ensure proper coverage during off-hours.
• Evaluate staff performance and take disciplinary actions as required.
• Disseminate and enforce security policies and procedures.
• Set facility-specific goals and priorities for a secure environment and effective response.
• Monitor all programs such as BWC, SITARS, Arrest Reporting, and Workplace Violence reporting.
• Advise senior leadership on new security policies or changes, based on field input and expertise.
• Make recommendations for improved Police Operations and service delivery.
• Provide regular summary reports to the Assistant Deputy Commissioner and keep OPO informed.
• Assist in advising executives on security issues.
• Act as liaison with NYPD and other law enforcement agencies.
• Perform the duties of the Assistant Deputy Commissioner in their absence.
