Job summary

City of New York seeks a Deputy Director of Security to lead Police Operations and oversee contracted security services across multiple locations. The role focuses on strategic policy implementation, risk assessment, and compliance with security protocols to protect staff and facilities.

The ideal candidate will manage relationships with field personnel and law enforcement, supervise security teams, and ensure continuous protection of agency assets during day shifts and critical incidents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with six years of full-time experience in a protection or security program; 18 months in admin/managerial capacity.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Police Operations and contracted security services, supervising Zone Inspectors, Captains, Lieutenants, and Sergeants.
• Conduct periodic on-site inspections and update policies as needed.
• Direct security investigations and assess risks, coordinating with SID on use-of-force reports.
• Schedule and deploy security staff to ensure coverage and optimal use of resources.
• Manage 24-hour security desk coverage and communications.
• Evaluate staff performance and take disciplinary action when needed.
• Set facility-specific security goals and priorities with input from field staff.
• Monitor OPO programs like BWC, SITARS, Arrest Reporting, and workplace violence.
• Advise senior leadership on security policies and procedural changes.
• Recommend improvements to Police Operations and service delivery.
• Provide regular summaries of Police Operations and security issues.
• Assist in advising executive management on security matters.
• Liaise with NYPD and other law enforcement agencies.
• Fulfill OPO duties when the ADC is unavailable.
