Job summary

The City of Hopewell seeks a senior public works leader to provide complex staff assistance to the Director of Public Works, plan and direct engineering operations, construction project management, stormwater program management, and related technical duties.

The role supervises management, professional and administrative staff, oversees contracts and consultants, administers CIP projects, and coordinates with the City Council and other departments; the incumbent may assume Director duties in

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with extensive civil/public works experience.
Experience in construction and project management with supervisory responsibilities.
Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

Plan and direct engineering operations including construction project management.
Oversee consultants and contracts; manage budgets and priorities.
Supervise staff; provide training and address deficiencies.
Administer contracts; evaluate change orders; oversee documentation and metrics.
Manage CIP projects; ensure plan of development adherence.
Coordinate with City Council and other departments; respond to inquiries.
