Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the Department of Education and Department Chair.
  • Create, format, update, and organize documents, spreadsheets, forms, and other departmental materials.
  • Assist with data entry, record maintenance, and organization of departmental information.
  • Maintain and update spreadsheets used for departmental tracking, planning, and reporting.
  • Assist with preparing materials for meetings, events, recruitment activities, and other departmental initiatives.
  • Organize electronic and physical files and maintain orderly departmental records.
  • Assist with copying, scanning, filing, assembling materials, and other general office tasks.
  • Greet students and visitors, answer basic questions, and direct individuals to the appropriate faculty or staff member.
  • Assist with departmental inventory and organization of supplies and materials.
  • Maintain confidentiality when working with student, faculty, and departmental information.
  • Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Previous office, administrative, bookkeeping, or similar work experience is a plus.
Job Description Summary

The Department of Education is seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented student worker to provide administrative support to the Department Chair and Department of Education. This position is ideal for a student who enjoys organizing information, working with documents and spreadsheets, and helping an office run efficiently.
The student assistant will support a variety of departmental activities, including creating and updating documents and spreadsheets, maintaining records and files, assisting with data entry and tracking, preparing materials for meetings and events, and completing general office tasks and special projects. Because the position may involve access to student and departmental information, the successful candidate must demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preference will be given to Business, Accounting, or related majors and to applicants who are proficient with spreadsheet and word-processing applications.

Hours of Availability

Up to 20 hours per week. Work schedule will be established based on the student’s class schedule and the needs of the Department of Education. Work will generally occur during regular university business hours.
