Job summary

University of Colorado Anschutz in Aurora, CO is hiring a full-time Patient Billing Specialist. You will handle patient interactions, explain SDM financial policies, and manage billing with Medicaid and third-party payers.

This is a 100% onsite role in the Orthodontics patient billing window with potential back-up coverage across windows. Qualified candidates have at least two years in technical accounting or related fields and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Two years of technical accounting, bookkeeping, medical billing, or related experience.
• Substitution: Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Receive and greet patients, offer information concerning clinic practice policies, financial procedures, and operations.
• Advise and communicate with patients, students, faculty, and staff concerning SDM financial policies and procedures and resolves patient financial account issues.
• Process and document various payments from patients and insurance companies, and other entities.
• Perform maintenance in the electronic health record system to ensure accurate billing and reporting.
• Reconcile and verify transactions against reports and the clinic system.
• Assist in daily preparation of clinical activity deposits and related logs.
• Ensure proper paperwork is retained and sent to the Bursar's Office.
• Verify Medicaid eligibility in a timely manner and communicate results to necessary parties.
