Job summary

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is hiring a full-time Patient Billing Specialist in the SDM Dental Clinic Operations. This onsite role supports patient billing, Medicaid and third-party insurance billing, and education of students, faculty, and staff on financial policies.

The position is based in Aurora, CO, with typical hours Mon–Fri 8:00am–5:00pm, reporting to the Patient Accounting Supervisor and providing courteous, accurate service to patients and departments.

Qualifications

• Two years of technical accounting, bookkeeping, medical billing, or related experience.
• Education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Receive and greet patients, explain clinic financial policies and procedures.
• Advise patients and staff on financial responsibilities and insurance policies.
• Process payments from patients and insurance entities and document appropriately.
• Maintain in the electronic health record system to ensure accurate billing.
• Verify Medicaid eligibility and manage related paperwork.
