Role Description

The Dental CFO and CPA is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA, responsible for overseeing the financial strategy, accounting operations, and fiscal integrity of CORE MDSO and its supported practices. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing financial planning and analysis, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting for multiple dental offices. This role will supervise accounting functions such as general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and tax compliance, ensuring adherence to GAAP and relevant regulatory standards. The Dental CFO and CPA will partner with clinical and operations leadership to evaluate practice performance, optimize profitability, and support growth initiatives, including new practice integrations and capital projects. The role also involves developing internal controls, mentoring finance team members, collaborating with external auditors and banking partners, and providing clear financial insights to executive leadership and practice owners.

Qualifications
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and substantial experience in a senior finance role (CFO, Controller, or equivalent), preferably within dental, healthcare, or multisite service organizations.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial modeling to support strategic decision-making.
  • Expertise in accounting principles and practices, including GAAP compliance, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience with tax planning and compliance for professional service entities, including knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations relevant to healthcare or dental practices.
  • Proficiency with accounting and practice management systems, along with advanced skills in Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders, including clinicians and practice owners.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including building and directing finance and accounting teams and collaborating effectively across departments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and a focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Accounting/Finance) is preferred.
