Job summary

StevenDouglas is partnering with a high-growth medical practice south of Boston to recruit an Executive Director of Accounting who will report to the CFO and oversee all general accounting functions across the multi-entity structure.

The role drives financial discipline, oversees month-end close, cash management, budgeting, variance analysis, and collaboration with operations and leadership to optimize resources and support growth.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in progressive accounting leadership.
  • Experience with month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Healthcare services or health plan operations exposure.
  • M&A diligence and integration experience.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills; NetSuite preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial reporting and month-end close for clinics at the corporate level.
  • Own daily cash positioning and reporting across the multi-entity structure.
  • Manage cash concentration and intercompany sweep structures.
  • Drive financial discipline and operational efficiency across the division.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses with leadership.
  • Oversee physician compensation processes in collaboration with operations.
  • Partner with Revenue Cycle Management for accurate billing and collections.
  • Provide data-driven insights and financial modeling for strategic initiatives.
  • Support strategic planning and integration activities for growth.

Job description

StevenDouglas is partnered with a high-growth medical practice organization based south of Boston. This role will report directly to the CFO and oversee all general accounting functions!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Leads financial reporting and month end close for medical clinics at the corporate accounting level
  • Own daily cash positioning and reporting across the multi-entity structure
  • Manage cash concentration/sweep structures between practice-level accounts and the corporate operating account
  • Drive financial discipline and operational efficiency across the division, including cost management and productivity enhancements
  • Prepares, timely and accurately, in collaboration with Leadership, required reporting, including Monthly Operating Report, Monthly Certifications, Corporate Disclosures, 13-week Cash Flow, Reconciliations, Synergy reporting, Budgets and Forecasts, etc.
  • Oversee and manage the Physician Compensation process in collaboration with operations, the company’s accounting and finance and physician leadership
  • Partner with the Revenue Cycle Management team to ensure accurate and timely billing and collections along with compliance
  • Participates in the annual strategic planning process and prepare the annual operating budget. Throughout the year, provides analysis of variances from budget and assists management in implementing changes needed to achieve budget goals
  • Prepares mid-year re-forecast and associated variance analysis and change management needed to achieve operational goals
  • Prepares annual capital budgets and Capital Equipment Requests. Ensures, in collaboration with local and the company’s accounting team, that assets and related depreciation is recorded accurately and in compliance with company policies
  • Creates and regularly updates long-term earnings forecast and physician income repair reporting
  • Provides data-driven insights and financial modeling to support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, partnerships, and other growth opportunities
  • Leverage financial data to improve decision-making, enhance patient care delivery, and optimize resource allocation
  • Provides financial leadership and guidance to facility managers. Trains managers on financial matters and provides routine feedback regarding departmental performance
  • Integrates the finance function and related systems of acquired entities locally and nationally
  • Prepares and delivers stakeholder reporting relevant for varied audiences including the executive team, board of directors, and private equity sponsor
  • Perform other duties and functions as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong leadership skills; proven record of recruiting, retaining and motivating practice-wide team to achieve results
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to details and technicalities
  • Excellent organizational, technical and multi-tasking skills
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize quickly, and deliver results
  • Strong computer skills: Excel and PowerPoint, Net Suite experience preferred
  • Desire for continuous learning and growth
  • Track record of successfully operating in dynamic environments and comfortable working cross-functionally to resolve issues and drive collaboration
  • Experience managing a month-end close process and associated financial reporting
  • Experience in healthcare services and health plan operations, including revenue cycle operations
  • Experience with M&A, including diligence and integration
