Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a Dental Assistant to support dentists in delivering patient care. Under supervision, you will handle instrument transfer, prepare the operatory, and manage dental x-rays and sterilization processes.

The role requires high school level education or GED, 1–3 years in a dental setting, and familiarity with Epic, EMR, SAP, Word, and Excel. Strong customer service and multitasking skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 1-3 years' experience in a dental setting required.
• Experience in customer service and multi-tasking strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of dental equipment and software: Epic, EMR, SAP, Word, and Excel.
• Must have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• If English language learners are significant in the center, proficiency in that secondary language is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hands dental instruments to the dentist during treatment of patients.
• Arrange operating area with necessary supplies and equipment.
• Maintain inventory list of supplies and instruments.
• Complete X-rays ordered by dentist.
• Maintain sanitary conditions of operatory and keep areas clean.
• Ensure sterility and quality control in autoclaving and preparing sterile solutions.
• Maintain equipment and keep maintenance logs.
• Present clean and professional attire.
• Collaborate with coworkers and assist with orientation for new associates.
• Retract patients' mouths and operate suction to maintain clear field.
