You will prepare treatment rooms, assist the dentist, sterilize instruments, and help manage patient comfort and safety. Qualifications include a VA license/certification, completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program or six months of hands-on experience, and six-hour x-ray training.

• Copy of PSV or verification from licensing board if required.
• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents.

Responsibilities

• Ensures a welcoming and well-prepared treatment room for patients by following procedures.
• Prepares patients for treatment by welcoming, seating, and draping.
• Communicates with patients and colleagues to support smooth operations.
• Sterilizes and delivers instruments; positions instruments for dentist's access.
• Exposes and develops radiographs; pours and polishes study casts.
• Fabricates temporary restorations and maintains removable appliances.
• Maintains CPR certification and emergency readiness; supports in urgent situations.
• Educates patients on oral hygiene and postoperative care.
• Documents care services in patient records; maintains confidentiality.
• Upholds infection-control policies and a clean, safe work environment.
• Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
• Pursues ongoing professional development through workshops and publications.
• Contributes to team goals and performs other duties as assigned.

Dental Assistant Duties & Responsibilities:

• Ensures a welcoming and well-prepared treatment room for patients by meticulously following prescribed procedures and protocols.

• Prepares patients for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.

• Serves as a key communicator within the practice, providing valuable information and support to both patients and colleagues through responsive interactions.

• Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments.

• Provides materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.

• Provides diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies, pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.

• Maintains patient appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restorations; cleaning and polishing removable appliances.

• Helps dentists manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.

• Educates patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions.

• Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.

• Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.

• Demonstrates dedication to upholding a safe and hygienic work environment by strictly adhering to established procedures, rules, and regulations.

• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.

• Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current, valid, and unrestrictedVA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.

• Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program or six (6) months of hands-on experience as a Dental Assistant.

• Six (6) hour x-ray training certification.

• Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.

• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents.
