Job summary

Pediatric Dental Care in Fairfax, Virginia is seeking an experienced Dental Assistant to support our clinical team in a busy pediatric practice. You will prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures while focusing on patient comfort.

Candidates should have completed a one-year certified dental assistant program and at least one year of on-the-job experience; X-ray certification is preferred and nitrous oxide certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program.
• Minimum of 1 year of on-the-job experience.
• X-ray certification preferred; nitrous oxide certification highly recommended.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
• Patient Care: Welcome and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays and assist with impressions.
• Compliance & Safety: Maintain infection control and protect patient confidentiality.
• Documentation: Maintain patient records and scheduling as needed.
• Emergency readiness: Assist in emergencies with CPR certification and related supplies.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
• Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations..
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake (if needed)
• Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.

Qualifications

• Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program
• 1 year on-the-job-experience
• X-Ray certification - Preferred
• Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended
• High school diploma or equivalent

Dental Assistant are also expected to maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.
