Job summary

Centurion Health is seeking a Dental Assistant for the Illinois River Correctional Center in Canton, IL. The role involves chairside assistance in a correctional environment under supervision of a dentist or dental hygienist. Hourly pay is $22.36/hr with a $4/hr PRN differential.

Responsibilities include instrument preparation, operatory maintenance, radiographic work, and related administrative duties. Must have a high school diploma/GED and dental assisting credentials or equivalent

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Technical dental assisting program or six months of experience required.
• License or eligibility to obtain a dental assistant license required.
• Expanded duty certification preferred; if not held, must be obtained within year of hire.
• X-ray certification or experience preferred; PPD documentation required.
• CPR certification required; ability to obtain security clearance.

Centurion is proud to be the provider of comprehensive services to the Illinois Department of Corrections. We are currently seeking a Dental Assistant to join our team at Centralia Correctional Center in Centralia, Illinois.

The Dental Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Dentist and/or Dental Hygienist in chairside dentistry in a correctional setting. Essential duties include the following:

• Preparing and sterilizing dental instruments
• Preparing and maintaining the dental operatory
• Operating radiographic equipment
• Administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Completion of a technical school program in dental assisting or six (6) months of experience as a Dental Assistant required
• Dental Assistant license or ability to obtain one required
• Certification as an expanded duty dental assistant preferred; if the candidate does not possess a current certificate, one must be obtained in the first year of employment
• Certification and/or previous experience performing dental x-rays preferred
• Must show/obtain current Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) documentation for tuberculosis screening
• Must be appropriately and actively certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Ability to obtain a security clearance, to include drug screen and criminal background check
