Job summary

Valley Dental Associates in Owings Mills, Maryland is seeking a Dental Assistant to support the clinical team and provide high-quality patient care in a team-based setting.

The position requires completion of a one-year dental assistant program, X-ray certification, and 1 year of on-the-job experience. Nitrous oxide certification is encouraged, with a part-time schedule on Tue/Wed/Fri. OSHA/HIPAA/CPR training is expected as required by law.

Qualifications

• Requires 1 year of hands-on dental assistant experience.
• CPR certification is recommended for emergencies.
• X-Ray certification is required.
• Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

• Clinical support: prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, assist dentists during procedures.
• Patient care: welcome, educate, and comfort patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & diagnostics: take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, maintain study models.
• Compliance & safety: ensure infection-control protocols, patient confidentiality, and workplace regulations.
• Maintain accurate patient records, including scheduling and intake.
• Assist in managing dental and medical emergencies with CPR readiness.

Responsibilities

• Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.

Qualifications

• Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program
• 1 year on-the-job experience
• Expanded Functions Dental Assistant - Required
• X-Ray certification - Required
• Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended
• High school diploma or equivalent

Dental Assistant are also expected to maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.
