Job summary

Greater Maryland Oral Surgery in Gaithersburg, Maryland is seeking a Dental Assistant to support the clinical team with high-quality patient care in a team-based office. You will prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, assist dentists during procedures, and help educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.

The role requires completion of a one-year accredited dental assistant program, at least one year of on-the-job experience, and X-ray certification.

Qualifications

• Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program.
• 1 year on-the-job experience.
• X-Ray certification - Required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
• Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake (if needed).
• Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.
