Job summary

Gourmet Gang in Downtown Norfolk is seeking a dependable Deli Associate to join our team. Shift options run Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 2:30pm with no weekends. Duties include salad and sandwich prep, cashier duties, phone orders, and expediting, plus general opening/closing tasks.

Base pay ranges from $14 to $15 per hour, with tip pool averaging $16–$18 per hour, and full-time benefits like holidays, PTO, insurance, and 401(k) match. Part-time also offers perks and meal benefits.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience, preferably in food service
• Food prep experience
• Experience running a cash register is a plus
• Able to follow directions and work independently
• Effective verbal communication skills
• Reliable transportation to and from work

Responsibilities

• Salad & Sandwich Prep: prepare menu items with quality and freshness
• Customer Service/Cashier: greet customers, take orders, operate register and process payments
• Customer Service/Phones: answer calls and take phone orders
• Expediting: check orders for accuracy and package items
• All Staff: assist with opening/closing duties and cleanup

How You Will Make an Impact:

We are looking for a dependable, team-oriented Deli Associate to join our Downtown Norfolk team! Depending on your assigned station, responsibilities may include:

• Salad & Sandwich Prep: Prepare menu items while maintaining food quality and freshness.
• Customer Service/Cashier: Greet customers, take orders, operate the register, and process payments.
• Customer Service/Phones: Answer calls, take phone orders, and assist customers.
• Expediting: Check orders for accuracy, package items, and ensure timely service.
• All Staff: Assist with opening and closing duties, including washing dishes, mopping, taking out trash, restocking restroom supplies, and completing other assigned tasks.

All team members are expected to maintain a clean and organized workspace, provide excellent customer service, and support other stations as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Customer service experience, preferably in a food service setting
• Food prep experience
• Experience running a cash register a plus
• Able to follow directions and work independent
• Effective verbal communication skills
• Reliable transportation

The Good Stuff:
