Job summary

Cosentino's Sunfresh in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Senior Assistant Deli Manager to support the Deli Manager in daily operations, drive sales, manage labor and inventory, and ensure food safety and exceptional customer service.

This exempt, leadership role requires strong deli experience, Serv-Safe certification, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment. Starting salary is $45–$50k with quarterly incentives and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Serv-Safe certification or similar is required.
• 2+ years of leadership in chain retail deli or restaurant management.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Experience with inventory management principles.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask and work shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Computer literacy with POS proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily deli operations including food prep, service, and sales.
• Support Deli Manager in scheduling staff and managing labor costs.
• Oversee inventory management: ordering, receiving, stocking to minimize waste and maximize profits.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
• Operate, clean and maintain deli equipment safely.
• Follow rotation procedures to monitor product dates.
• Assist in interviewing and hiring deli staff.
• Provide training and development to deli staff.
• Coach and mentor team to improve performance and customer service.
• Assist in merchandising strategy to increase sales.
• Implement quality control when deli products are displayed or served.
• Train in portion control for deli production and service.
• Promote ads and specials to boost department sales.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and visually appealing department.
