Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Deli department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Deli operations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote trust and respect among associates.
  • Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
  • Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company and store goals.
  • Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
  • Train and develop associates on their job performance and participate in performance appraisals.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions, making suggestions about products.
  • Slice deli meats and cheeses to customer requests using proper equipment.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
  • Inform customers of deli specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrinkage.
  • Recommend deli items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  • Use all deli equipment according to company guidelines.
  • Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  • Educate associates about current, upcoming, and special in-store promotions.
  • Assist in preparing the store/department budget, profit and loss reviews, and take appropriate actions.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and supervising inventory processes.
  • Train associates on inventory and Computer Assisted Ordering.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained, and logs are kept.
  • Reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions.
  • Practice preventive maintenance and notify management of equipment issues.
  • Report customer or employee accidents and safety risks, including illegal activities.
  • Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
