Job summary

Meijer Inc. in Ohio is seeking a Store Manager to lead daily operations, staff staffing, and exceptional customer service while achieving sales and shrink goals.

You will mentor team members, manage training, payroll, and promotions, and promote Meijer Friendly Initiative across the store. This role emphasizes safety, staff development, and a collaborative, fast-paced retail environment with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members for clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including SDITs, team members and team leaders.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentors and coaches team members to ensure service and sales goals are met.
• Implements strategies to improve customer service and store sales while meeting customer needs.
• Maintains store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards.
• Ensure staffing, selection and hiring to achieve staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning by providing career paths and development needs for team members.
• Documents and applies disciplinary actions and makes recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations.
• Promotes a safe work environment and ensures team is thoroughly trained.
