Job summary

SpartanNash is seeking a Retail Department Manager for the Family Fare location in Bismarck, ND. You will lead day-to-day department operations, train staff, ensure staffing levels, and drive KPI performance in a fast-paced grocery setting.

Responsibilities include inventory control, order validation, scheduling, and workforce development. The role requires strong communication, bookkeeping skills, and the ability to work hands-on with the team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years retail experience.
• One year supervisory experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication and bookkeeping.
• Good organization and prioritization.
• Strong leadership abilities with hands-on approach.
• Strategic planning and business acumen.
• Knowledge of retail operations and management systems.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Spanish language ability is desirable depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Order and maintain department inventory and ensure product freshness and quality.
• Validate received orders for amount, quality, weight, condition and proper storage.
• Lead a team to complete stocking, production and related tasks.
• Maintain familiarity with products in the department and store.
• Know advertised items, prices, and store promotions.
• Communicate and execute the weekly Flight Plan to guidelines.
• Follow policies and use scheduling tools to manage staffing.
• Manage department scheduling, labor, overtime and payroll expenses.
• Develop and monitor department goals and forecasts.
• Attend daily huddles and meetings as required.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked department and follow Prime Time standards.
• Ensure food safety and general safety guidelines are followed.
• Develop and implement plans to meet company KPIs.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
