Job summary

Military Deli & Bakery Services is hiring a Deli Bakery Associate for a part-time, closing-shift role at Oceana NAS in Virginia Beach. The position offers up to 29 hours per week, weekend availability, and hands-on opportunities in deli and bakery tasks.

You will slice meats and cheeses, prepare party trays, stock displays, maintain sanitation, and deliver friendly customer service to military personnel and their families. 18+ required; cross-training encouraged; experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Willing to cross-train in deli and bakery tasks.
• Effective and friendly communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math and the ability to follow written guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer service and teamwork.
• Slices deli meats and cheeses to customer requests.
• Prepares custom party trays and makes sandwiches accordingly.
• Stocks and organizes displays and helps with shipments as needed.
• Ensures proper sanitation of the department and proper food handling/preparation.
• Demonstrates ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stress.
• Performs additional deli/bakery tasks as needed.

Part time position- Offering up to 29 hours a week. Mid to closing shifts and must be available to work weekends as needed.

Hours of Operation

• Sunday 7:30 AM- 9:00 PM
• Monday 8:30 AM- 9:00 PM
• Tuesday 8:30 AM- 9:00 PM
• Wednesday 8:30 AM- 9:00 PM
• Thursday 8:30 AM- 9:00 PM
• Friday 8:30 AM- 9:00 PM
• Saturday 7:30 AM- 9:00 PM

Job Description

• Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer service, teamwork with positive communication, and assist other team members as needed.
• Slices deli meats and cheeses to customer’s request.
• Prepares custom party trays and makes sandwiches accordingly.
• Stock and organize displays, to include helping with shipments as needed.
• Ensure proper sanitation of the department, equipment, and proper food handling/preparation.
• Demonstrates the ability to work in fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations.
• Other duties may include cake decorating, baking, rotisserie chicken preparation, or other deli/bakery tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age
• Willing to cross-train in bakery and deli tasks as needed
• Effective and friendly communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math and the ability to follow written guidelines
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation
• Ability to stand and walk short distances for an entire shift
• Tolerates working in freezers for up to 20 minutes at a time
• Team player
• Grocery, food service or retail experience a plus!
• Some weekend shifts are required
