Job summary

RTX is seeking a software-focused engineer for the Test Solutions Engineering team within the Hardware Discipline Center. The role involves architecting and building sophisticated software applications and automated test environments for mission-critical defense systems, interfacing with state-of-the-art hardware throughout the lifecycle from lab demos to long-term sustainment.

Qualifications

• Advanced degreein Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline. Degree must be obtained by start date.
• Experience developing, testing, or integrating software applications using one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, or Visual Basic (VB/VBA/.NET).
• Experience developing, building, and debugging software applications targeting Windows operating systems using the Microsoft Visual Studio integrated development environment (IDE).

Responsibilities

• Design, code, and integrate object-oriented software applications and test software targeting Windows operating platforms.
• Develop and derive system-level software requirements, operational specifications, and architectural designs.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize software applications to ensure rigorous test accuracy, repeatability, and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with systems, electrical, and mechanical engineers to integrate software test tools with specialized hardware instrumentation.
• Participate actively in formal design reviews, code peer reviews, and technical defect resolution.
• Work within structured engineering frameworks applying both Agile and Waterfall development lifecycles.
