Job summary

Leidos Defense Sensors in Huntsville, AL, is hiring multiple Software Developers at various experience levels to support missile defense programs. You will join an Agile team to design, develop, and debug software components in C++, Java, and related languages, delivering capable solutions for national defense.

Candidates should have ABET‑accredited degrees with 2–4 years in real-time software or a Master’s with less than 2 years in simulations; strong problem-solving, collaboration, and ability

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field from ABET‑accredited institution with 2–4 years experience in design, development, and testing of real‑time software; or Master’s degree with less than 2 years experience in simulations
• Proficiency in C++ and Java; experience with user interface development
• Experience with GitLab/Git for version control
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies (SAFe) and applying them in technical/engineering environments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present clearly

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level software development using C++, Java, or similar languages; design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software components
• Collaborate with program experts and user stakeholders to design, enhance, and debug software and develop new capabilities for integration
• Apply software engineering principles to ensure code is modifiable, efficient, reliable, and reusable; support the development lifecycle
• Create and maintain automated builds and CI/CD pipelines
• Contribute to agile development activities, including PI Planning, feature and story development, sprint planning, and retrospectives
• Participate in team and program demos to showcase work and drive continuous improvement
• Maintain a positive, proactive, collaborative attitude and strong teamwork
