Lydecker LLP is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our growing defense litigation practice group in Florida. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of civil defense experience, familiarity with calendaring and drafting basic pleadings, and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of civil defense litigation experience, preferably in general liability or other civil defense practice area.
• Experience with calendaring, docketing, interfacing with court personnel, opposing counsel, clients and vendors.
• Drafting basic pleadings and legal correspondence; proofreading for accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Client billing and sending invoice.
• Drafting simple legal documents such as discovery requests, notices, subpoenas.
• Organizing and filing documents, including pleadings and case materials.
• Answering phones, communicating with clients and other parties, and responding to emails; document organization and gathering for filings.
• Preparing documents for proceedings, such as trials and hearings.
• Assisting with trial preparation, including transporting exhibits and setting up equipment.
• Familiarity with Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems.
