Job summary

Lydecker LLP in California is seeking a paralegal with a strong work ethic, exceptional organization, and keen attention to detail to support its growing defense litigation practice. The role focuses on calendaring, docketing, liaising with courts, clients, and vendors, and drafting basic pleadings.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years civil defense litigation experience, proficiency with Clio and MS Office, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of civil defense litigation experience, preferably in product liability, mass tort, personal injury defense, employment defense, or insurance defense.
• Experience calendaring, docketing, interfacing with court personnel, opposing counsel, clients and vendors, drafting basic pleadings and legal correspondence.
• Basic computer skills with MS Office; ability to type and operate office equipment.
• Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients, court personnel and internal team members.
• Detail-oriented with proofreading/editing of legal documents for accuracy.
• Willingness to take on additional tasks for attorneys and team.
• Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree a plus, but not required.
• Certified or Registered Paralegals are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Maintain effective communication with attorneys, clients, courts and other parties.
• Support attorneys with administrative duties: calendars, hearings and deadlines, case files, logistics.
• Assist with e-filing in state or federal court as needed.
• Organize exhibits, documents and evidence for efficient retrieval (we use Clio).
• Serve as liaison between trial teams and external partners to ensure collaboration.
• Track case progress, deadlines, and client information.
• Draft basic pleadings under attorney supervision.
• Prepare responses to discovery requests as needed.
• Assist with mediation or trial preparation.
• Familiarity with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems; Clio a plus.
