Job summary

SAIC is seeking a System Engineer to support an IT Service Management effort for USTRANSCOM at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. The role involves managing and monitoring systems, installing and maintaining software, and ensuring security and compliance within UNIX/Linux/RedHat environments.

Responsibilities include 2nd/3rd line support, performance monitoring, and coordination with vendors. Strong communications and DoD clearance are required, with on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

• BA/BS and four (4) years or more experience.
• DoD Secret Clearance.
• IAT Level II certs: Security+ CE, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP.
• CE cert for network support/defense or OS platforms (e.g., Splunk, Cisco, McAfee).
• Must have Windows Server 2012/2016 experience.
• Cloud experience in Azure or AWS.
• Experience with Linux and production environments.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; on-call availability.
• Strong troubleshooting and end-to-end problem ownership.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; LDAP/Kerberos/AD knowledge.
• Desirable certs: MCP, CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+, AWS, Azure.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
• Install, configure, test, and maintain OS, application software and sys management tools.
• Ensure high levels of system availability and performance.
• Monitor and test application performance; work with developers on fixes.
• Maintain security, backups, and redundancy strategies.
• Participate in design of information and operational support systems.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd line support and vendor liaison.
• Remediate vulnerabilities and report on systems.
• Config and compliance in the environment.
• Support Unix/Linux/RedHat across environments.
