Job summary

LG Energy Solution Michigan Inc. (LGESMI) is seeking a Defect Engineer I to identify battery cell defects caused by contamination and reduce them through equipment and process improvements.

The role emphasizes quality and continuous improvement in a li-ion battery cell manufacturing clean room, reporting to the Manager of Defect Engineering. Location is Lansing, MI with responsibilities spanning root-cause analysis, testing, and cross-team collaboration to resolve defects and optimize

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or MS preferred or equivalent experience.
• Lean Six Sigma certification required.

Responsibilities

• Implement process improvements to reduce foreign particles using lean Six Sigma and structured problem solving.
• Train production teams on best practices and process changes.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality and other teams to resolve quality issues.
• Engage in weekly meetings with the production team to review and plan.
• Analyze product failure data and lab results to determine root causes and solutions.
• Maintain 5S3R standards: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain; Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container.
