Job summary

LG Energy Solution Michigan, Inc. is seeking a Manager of Defect Engineering to lead defect reduction and continuous improvement in lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing.

You will guide technical teams to identify, analyze, and eliminate defects related to contamination, equipment, and processes, partnering with Production, Quality, and Process Engineering. The role requires strong leadership, root-cause analysis, and training to build a quality-focused culture.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering, manufacturing, quality, or related technical experience.
• 3+ years of experience leading employees, engineering teams, projects, or technical processes.
• Experience with manufacturing defect analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective action.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead Defect Engineering team and establish priorities aligned with quality, production, and business objectives.
• Develop and execute strategies to reduce defects, contamination, and process-related quality issues.
• Monitor defect trends, KPIs, and process performance to identify risks and opportunities.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring manufacturing defects.
• Drive improvements to prevent defect recurrence in equipment, processes, and environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality concerns and drive improvements.
