Job summary

Werner Enterprises Inc. seeks a Lead Dedicated Logistics Manager in Naperville, IL to own account profitability and day-to-day operations, including driver management, load planning, and customer service functions for satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Marketing, Management, or Transportation/Logistics.
• 1–2 years Dedicated Logistics Manager experience with a strong KPI performance preferred.
• Fleet goal of at least 50 and a minimum of two Transportation Managers reporting to this role.
• 2–3 years customer service experience preferred.
• 2–3 years transportation experience preferred.
• 1–2 years AS400 and PC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Overall Account Management of key factors such as account profitability, revenue generation, invoicing, personnel management, driver turnover, fleet sizing, load planning, and direct /onsite customer interaction.
• Daily supervision of office personnel (minimum of 2) and drivers (minimum of 40) assigned to respective account.
• Continually focusing on driver training and driver retention.
• Responsible for account profitability and growth.
• Maximize asset utility while focusing on idle reduction and mpg improvement strategies.
• Assigning drivers to loads by optimizing load information such as origination, destination, type of freight, number of miles, backhauls, stops, directions, etc.
• This is done using our operating systems, driver telematics, face-to-face, and phone/text communication.
• Promotes a safety culture by evaluating safety performance and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Monitor performance metrics and participate in customer meetings.
• Coordinate the maintenance of the assets and equipment designated to the account.
• Coordinate HR functions such as interviewing, hiring, discipline and separations.
• Complete required account reporting for internal and external customers.
• Lead Dedicated Logistics Managers to keep higher levels of service and improve KPIs.
