Job summary

E.N. Bisso & Son, Inc. is looking for a Deckhand to support vessel operations and assist the Vessel Master with line handling, dockings, and lookout duties.

The role emphasizes a strong commitment to health, safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. The position follows a 7–7 schedule on the vessel, with shifts that may be 9, 12, or 24 hours long depending on operations.

Qualifications

• Meet Coast Guard and Seafarer’s International Union physical standards.
• Obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) and Merchant Marine Credential (MMC).
• On-time for crew changes and not leaving the vessel without proper relief and permission.

Responsibilities

• Make up lines for vessel handling and assist with dockings, sailings, or shifting.
• Stand lookout and perform tasks to carry out duties such as line handling, splicing, and throwing lines.
• Maintain radio watch when required; perform vessel cleaning, sanitation, and general maintenance.
• Prepare meals as directed by the Master and perform other cleaning chores as directed.
• Report hazardous conditions to the master and take on-the-spot corrections when capable.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Master.
