Job summary

Blessey Marine Services, Inc. seeks a Deckhand to ensure safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant operations of the assigned area. You will perform vessel maintenance, assist in tow-building and docking, and support training of new personnel.

The role requires working a rotation schedule, complying with safety and environmental regulations, and readiness to travel to hub cities while wearing appropriate protective gear. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to learn spills containment and emergency actions.
  • Familiarity with MSDS sheets and emergency information.

Responsibilities

  • Perform vessel maintenance including cleaning, scraping, painting, changing oil and filters, and related duties.
  • Inspect conditions and notify Captain of hazards affecting tow/safety.
  • Assist with training of newly hired personnel.
  • Handle lines and rigging during tow building, locking, and docking activities.
  • Work a rotation schedule (6 hours on, 6 hours off) with potential overtime per policy.
  • Work aboard the vessel for extended periods (e.g., 28 days on, 14 off or 20 on, 10 off).
  • Wear PPE such as PVC foul-weather gear, life jacket, gloves, boots; navigate locks when required.
  • Drive to and from hub cities; comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
