Job summary

GRC Global River Cruises seeks an innovative, service-oriented engineer to join our deck operations on European luxury river ships, traveling across iconic destinations.

You will stand wheel and gangway watches, maintain deck equipment, and support safety standards while delivering exceptional guest experiences. Fluent English is required; German is a plus. EU/EEA/CH applicants welcome; position based on our European ships.

Qualifications

• Proactive, innovative, service-oriented team player with strong problem-solving skills.
• Take full responsibility for safety and security.
• Always carry a Walkie-Talkie; use channel 1 in case of alarm.
• Support the Captain in enforcing company regulations and guidelines.
• Share duties equally with other Engineers of the same rank.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards during inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
• Document and report technical issues accurately and timely.
• Assigned learning activities, training sessions, and mandatory safety and emergency drills.
• Good communication skills in English; German is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Stand wheel watch when ships are on automatic pilot and verify accuracy of courses.
• Handle mooring lines to secure vessels to wharfs, other vessels, or rig towing lines.
• Stand gangway watch in port to prevent unauthorized boarding.
• Operate, maintain, and repair deck equipment, e.g., winches, cranes, derricks.
• Load and unload materials from vessels safely and efficiently.
• Support colleagues as a proactive team player wherever help is needed.
• Uphold safety, service, and operational standards always.
• Gain valuable experience in luxury river cruise operations.
• Travel to some of the most spectacular destinations in Europe.
