Job summary

Maricopa County Department of Public Health is seeking a Decedent Services Lead to guide and support the Indigent Decedent Services team within the Office of Vital Registration in the OME ecosystem.

You will lead Decedent Services Coordinators, the Program Coordinator, and the supervisor, coordinating vendor activity from the satellite office. The role emphasizes collaboration with partners to deliver critical mandated services for residents of Maricopa County.

Qualifications

• One or more years of experience in vital records/registration, fiduciary, mortuary, or forensic science program.
• Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare, Public Health, Mortuary Science, or a related field.
• A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Assist Decedent Services Program Coordinator with investigating decedent demographic information for CIDS referrals.
• Create and maintain rotation and interment schedules, reports, and spreadsheets to monitor referrals and case activity.
• Review CIDS referrals and determine approval or denial of cases as authorizing agent.
• Distribute, monitor, coordinate, and support workload among the team.
• Explain and enforce policies for indigent or abandoned decedent referrals from OME or community.
• Ensure compliance, quality control, and accuracy in all mandated services.
• Monitor, maintain, and place orders for office supplies and equipment and assist in supply audits.
