Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) invites nominationsand applications for the position of Dean of the Sue and RadcliffeKillam Library. The University seeks a dynamic, forward-thinking,and collaborative leader to advance the Library's mission insupport of teaching, learning, research, and scholarship. The Deanwill articulate a compelling vision for the future of the academiclibrary and position the Killam Library as an essential partner inadvancing and sustaining the University's success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Dean, under general direction of the Provost and Senior VicePresident of Academic Affairs, serves as the chief administrativeand strategic leader for all library programs, services, andfacilities. This role is central to aligning library operationswith institutional priorities, supporting a diverse academiccommunity, and ensuring responsiveness to the rapidly evolvinglandscape of higher education and academic libraries. The Dean isresponsible for shaping and executing a collaborative strategicvision that enhances student success, faculty research, andacademic innovation.

The Dean will:

• Provide visionary leadership for the Killam Library and itsteam of 20 full-time staff and approximately 20 part-time studentworkers.
• Provide leadership and direction in personnel matters,including recruitment, selection, staffing, performance management,employee development, recognition, consistent with applicableUniversity policies and equal employment opportunity requirements..
• Manage an annual budget of $2.6 million and direct and overseeall Library operations, including financial and physical resources,facilities, user services, interlibrary collaboration, technologyand automated systems, strategic planning, assessment andreporting, marketing, and public relations.
• Initiate a needs assessment and implement a plan for selection,acquisition, cataloging, classification, circulation of librarymedia materials, and collaborative library agreements.
• Seek external funding and write grant proposals for enhancinglibrary programs, facilities, and collections.
• Coordinate the development and implementation of libraryprograms and services to meet the needs of students andfaculty.
• Coordinate services and collections that support academicprograms delivered in a variety of methods and at a variety ofonsite and offsite venues.
• Develop, interpret, and implement policies and procedures tomeet library objectives for efficient daily operations and to guidelong-term quality improvement.
• Foster collaborative and creative opportunities within thelibrary, across campus, in the community, and with otherinstitutions by cultivating relationships and partnerships.
• Facilitate and encourage the integration of emergingtechnologies including AI.
• Provide support for the scholarly activity of facultylibrarians.
• Participate in resource-sharing and library consortia.
• Work with Texas A&M University System library leaders topursue common goals and strategies.
• Coordinate and finalize library budget preparation and exercisesound fiscal management to assure effective use of financial andhuman resources.
• Direct facilities planning to provide optimal working andlearning environments.
• Perform other duties which may be assigned.

Required Qualifications

It is required that the selected candidate possess a Master'sdegree in Library Science (or equivalent degree) from an AmericanLibrary Association-accredited program and progressiveadministrative experience in an academic library setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Eight years of related experience in a library environment,including managerial experience. In addition, it is preferred thatthe selected candidate have:

• A Second Master's or advanced degree, Ph.D., or equivalentdegree in related field.
• Five years of successful library administrative experience withprogressively more responsible positions such as department head,assistant dean, or associate dean.
• A record of engagement in professional associations.
• Experience with library advocacy in local, state, national andinternational settings.
• Demonstrated experience and leadership integrating technologyand digital resources for the organization, access and distributionof information.
• Knowledge of electronic resources, library technologies, andautomated library systems.
• Prior success with strategic planning and assessment of libraryprograms, operations, and services.
• Knowledge of current issues, developments, innovations, andchallenges in academic librarianship and archives, informationtechnology, scholarly communications, and higher education.
• Capacity to provide an atmosphere that encourages teambuilding, accountability, professional growth of staff, trust, andproductivity.
• Experience to lead initiatives to encourage and facilitate theuse of Open Educational Resources and Open Textbooks.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students,faculty, and staff from a broad range of academic and professionalbackgrounds and experiences.
• Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred.

A salary of $150 - $160k is available to the winning candidatebased upon the breadth of experience and the hiring manager'sdiscretion. In addition, relocation assistance to Laredo isavailable.
