Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Associate for Transaction Advisory/Financial Due Diligence to support deal execution. You will join a collaborative team delivering financial due diligence across industries, focusing on value drivers for sponsors and lenders.

You'll analyze financial statements, assess earnings quality, and prepare client-ready reports. The role requires 2–4 years in audit and due diligence, a CPA or in progress, and strong Excel & PowerPoint skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2‑4 years of audit and financial accounting due diligence experience at a top accounting firm, with at least 1 year in financial due diligence.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting and/or related major.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or currently in the process of obtaining one.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting.
• High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong project management skills.
• Flexibility to work as both a team member and an individual contributor.
• Ability to thrive and be effective in fast‑paced settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist with core financial due diligence, helping to identify key risks and potential deal breakers, assess the strengths and weaknesses of the business against industry benchmarks, and aid in the evaluation of the potential transaction in the context of clients’ investment strategy.
• Analyze detailed financial statement information, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow and key operational data, and synthesize meaningful information for client discussions.
• Assess the quality of the target company’s reported earnings, net assets and cash flows.
• After an investigative analysis, assist in constructing deal‑oriented reports and presentations for clients that highlight key financial, commercial and other findings, and clarify how such findings affect valuation, purchase/sale agreements, and negotiating points.
• Participate in meetings and conference calls with target company management, client personnel, and serve as a secondary point of contact for day‑to‑day execution matters.
• Be actively involved in building and maintaining client relationships and supporting business development opportunities.
