Job summary

Ampersand Therapy LLC in Ashland, VA is seeking a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. You will provide specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, develop IEPs, conduct assessments, and guide instructional decisions.

The position offers competitive hourly pay up to $45, W-2 employment with benefits, licensure reimbursement, mileage stipends, and collaboration with audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and general education teachers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field.
• Virginia state teaching certification and endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility).
• Knowledge of hearing impairments, language development, and instructional strategies.
• Experience with students with hearing loss preferred, not required.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Conduct assessments and use data to guide instructional decisions.
• Support development of communication skills, including spoken language, sign language, and/or total communication approaches.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies.
• Work with related service providers (e.g., audiologists, speech-language pathologists).
• Provide training and support to staff regarding hearing loss and classroom accommodations.
• Monitor and maintain assistive listening devices and hearing technology.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
• Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with IDEA and district policies.
