Job summary

Ampersand Therapy is seeking a full-time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher for a Lebanon, TN school setting for the 2026-2027 year. The role involves providing specialized instruction, IEP development, data-driven decisions, and collaboration with other educators to foster academic growth and communication skills.

You will support spoken and sign language development, coordinate with audiologists and SLPs, and ensure compliance with IDEA and district policies while maintaining thorough

Qualifications

• Active Tennessee educator license with a Special Education: Hearing PreK–12 endorsement
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of instructional strategies and accommodations for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
• Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with federal and state regulations
• Conduct assessments and use data to guide instructional decisions
• Support development of communication skills including spoken language, sign language, and/or total communication approaches
• Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies
• Work with related service providers (e.g., audiologists, SLPs)
• Provide training and support to staff regarding hearing loss and classroom accommodations
• Monitor and maintain assistive listening devices and hearing technology
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
• Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with IDEA and district policies
• All other duties as assigned
