Job summary

Ampersand Therapy LLC is seeking a full-time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year in Montgomery, AL. You will provide instructional services to students who are Deaf or hard of hearing and help develop IEPs in collaboration with school staff.

The role focuses on communication development across spoken language, sign language, and total communication, with collaboration across general education teachers and related service providers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher with Hearing Impairment endorsement.
• Experience with students who have hearing loss preferred, not required.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Conduct assessments and use data to guide instructional decisions.
• Support development of communication skills, including spoken language, sign language, and total communication approaches.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies.
• Work with related service providers (e.g., audiologists, speech-language pathologists).
• Provide training and support to staff regarding hearing loss and classroom accommodations.
• Monitor and maintain assistive listening devices and hearing technology.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
• Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with IDEA and district policies.
• All other duties as assigned.
