Job summary

Southern Oregon ESD is seeking a passionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to serve students from birth through age 21. The role combines classroom instruction with itinerant services across diverse educational settings, supporting Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in communication, academics, and self-advocacy.

Ideal candidates will have Deaf education knowledge and fluency in ASL or other communication modalities, plus Oregon licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

Qualifications

• Oregon license as Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
• Experience with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
• Demonstrate sign language communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, prescribe, design and implement instruction for each child as determined by the IEP.
• Coordinate, participate, and/or lead referral, eligibility, IEP and placement meetings for assigned children.
• Schedule and supervise interpreters assigned to students on caseload.
• Complete all reports, documentation and requests for information in the manner and timeline specified.
